Finding a happy home for your paper: Discussion on Research Publication and Open Science

12:00-13:15

(Kobe Int'l Conference Center 3F, Int’l Conference Room)

*Lunch boxes will be provided. (Please note that they are available on a first-come, first-served basis and subject to availability.)

Our research activities, which are funded by taxpayers, would be better served if they were communicated to the public, rather than just researchers. Unfortunately, the cost of accessing scientific papers is increasing every year, and publishing Open Access papers is becoming more expensive. Additionally, there is growing competition among publishers and scientific journals. In this seminar, Dr. Masanori Arita from the National Institute of Genetics, the author of "The Road of Scientific Publishing (Iwanami Shoten)," will provide a summary of the current state and issues in scientific publishing. This will be followed by a panel discussion featuring Dr. Bernd Pulverer, the Chief Editor of EMBO Reports, and Dr. Tadashi Uemura, a member of the Genes to Cells Editorial Board at Kyoto University.

Language: English.
