Scientific research is a global endeavour and, especially for young scientists, international mobility has a direct and beneficial impact on scientific discovery and career development. Japan's high scientific standards mean that young Japanese scientists are well-equipped to take on positions outside of Japan to enrich their expertise. Europe has a diverse and high-quality research environment, which can be a promising destination for young Japanese scientists to spend a part of their career and start building up an international network. Numerous options for moving to Europe are available, from short research stays lasting a few months to multi-year opportunities.
The EMBO-MBSJ Virtual Forum will bring together Japanese early career researchers who are currently working in Europe or who are now back in Japan following a stay in Europe. They will discuss the value of international research cooperation for their scientific success and career advancement. They will also offer first-hand insights about their experiences in Europe and Japan and give career advice to participants.
