Chair of the Organizing Committee

The 63rd Annual Meeting of the Biophysical Society of Japan will be held at the Nara Convention Center (Nara City) for three days from September 24 (Wed.) to 26 (Fri.), 2025. This will be the first time for the society to hold its annual meeting in Nara, an ancient capital surrounded by World Heritage sites. The annual meeting will be managed by the Executive Committee consisting of members from Kyoto University, Nara Institute of Science and Technology, and other nearby academic societies.
Biophysics is the study of the various activities exhibited by living organisms on the basis of physics, chemistry, biology, and information science. For the Biophysical Society of Japan, a heterogeneous group of researchers, the annual meeting is the most important event to present and discuss the latest research results and to deepen exchanges among researchers. After overcoming the new corona disaster and based on the great success of the joint annual meeting with IUPAB2024, the organizing committee is now preparing to make the Nara Annual Meeting even more enthusiastic and enjoyable.
While continuing the traditions of previous years' meetings, we are also planning several new challenges for the Nara Annual Meeting. In the evening of the first day of the Annual Meeting, we are planning a welcome reception and evening sessions. We hope this will be an opportunity to enjoy a relaxed discussion over food and drinks. Also planned is a research presentation and social event on the day before the annual meeting, led by the Young Biophysicists' Group. The enthusiasm of the Biophysical Society of Japan is generated by the young researchers who will lead the next generation. I hope that the event will be a great success. The catchphrase for the meeting is “Connecting the Present and Future of Biophysics in Nara, the Ancient City of Nara” in the hope that senior researchers who are leading the current research and young researchers who will lead the future will be united and excited.
We are looking forward to seeing many of you at the Nara Annual Meeting.
