The Protein Science Society of Japan at PSSJ2022 will accept the applications of “Young Scientist Award” and “Student Oral Presentation Award” in place of the traditional Poster Award.
The society will give Young Scientist Award to 5 -10 presentations and Oral Presentation Award to 10 presentations from the five fields of “Structural biology”, “Computation/Information science”, “Protein/Cellular functions, Imaging”, “Biophysics, Protein Folding” and “Proteomics / Protein engineering”. The recipients will be awarded certificates.
Furthermore, a few recipients from the Young Scientist Award will be given “Young Scientist Excellence Award”. Its recipients will be offered a gift and a monetary prize of travel grant (with upper limit) for participation in the US Protein Society meeting.
You can apply for the awards via the online abstract submission system. Your enthusiastic applications are highly welcomed. The recipients of the Young Scientist Award will be requested to contribute a review, experimental protocol or essay to the PSSJ Archives.
Young Scientist Award
Application submission period:

Eligibility Requirements and Application Procedure:
| - | Regular member who is postdoctoral researcher, assistant professor, or in an equivalent position to those, or motivated student member. |
| - | Under 40 years old as of April 1, 2022 |
It’s unnecessary to pay the fee for FY 2021 (until March of 2022).
Please note that past recipients of Young Scientist Award are not eligible.
At the selection, the younger scientists are more likely to be prioritized. However, the committee will properly consider the length of maternity and childcare leave. If it applies to you, you are required to send your CV mentioning them to the secretariat.

Regular member applicants
If regular member applicants are not selected for Young Scientist Award, their abstracts will shift to the oral presentation.
Student member applicants
If student member applicants are not selected for Young Scientist Award, their abstracts will shift to candidates of Student Oral Presentation Award automatically.
Selection process:
<Application document selection>
5 - 10 recipients of Young Scientist Award will be selected based on application documents in advance. The research topic is evaluated in the selection.
<Presentation selection>
Those who are selected Young Scientist Award based on the application document will be invited to make a presentation in English at the “Young Scientist Award Symposium”. A few recipients will be selected for Young Scientist Excellence Award based on the research topic and the clarity of the presentation. A brief discussion time is arranged after each presentation. Please deal with the discussion time in English basically.
Student Oral Presentation Award

Selection process:
The recipients will be selected during oral presentation based on the presentation topic and ingenuity of the presentation.
